As far as I can tell, the majority of Joella’s website is finished. Phew!
This site design is made with WordPress. While a blogging program, it is also an excellent ‘content maintenance’ program. The benefits to using WP are:
- Each page/post will look the same
- Links to other sections of the website will be on each page/post
- Any changes will automatically be site wide
- and, later, pages and posts will have a ‘comment’ option.
To the right is a column called a ‘sidebar’. This is where the links to the site are located. It is also where I will later put ‘recent comments’ and ‘recent updates’. You can then see at a glance which pages have been updated and who has commented where.
Comments are similar to a guest book, but better. They are more flexible for both the commenter and the reader. The best part is that you can share your opinion or thought right where it should be: on that page!
However, as with the internet, there are spammers. There are even comment spammers. For the moment, the comment option is unavailable. Later I will reinstate them, after the spam robots go elsewhere. An excellent example is down in the footer (the bottom of each page). See the ‘Spam Karma 2’ line? Those numbers reflect the comment counts. The first are those that were never allowed to see the light of day, the second were those that were questionable so were held in ‘moderation’ and the last are those that were allowed to be viewed. That number currently shows the count for the test comments I have made.
